Best Toddler Books of the Week

These are the books we’ve been reading this week ranked favorite to least favorite by Cecy, a two-year old.

#1 Top Favorite: llama llama mad at mama by Anna Dewdney tells the common story of a little kid who goes shopping with his mother and loses patience with waiting in lines and buying groceries and clothing. ¬†We love the rhymes, think it’s funny and can definitely relate to the characters.

#2: Move Over, ROVER! written by Karen Beaumont and illustrated by Jane Dyer is book about a dog hiding in his dog house during a rain storm. He is soon joined by a few too many friends who are looking for a warm, dry spot to escape the bad weather. This book has a lot of good rhymes and word repetition plus the illustrations are adorable.

#3: I’m Bored by Michael Ian Black and illustrated by Debbie Ridpath Ohi (the same comedian, author as ‘Naked!’, a book we discussed here last week). I don’t know if my two-year old has reached a point in her life where she has experienced boredom yet, but she likes this book – or maybe she just likes the potato in the book? It’s hard to say.

#4: Bubble Bath Pirates! by Jarrett J. Krosoczka is a pirate-themed book about a mom giving her two sons a bath. We picked it out because we love bath time.

#5: pat the pet is a pat the bunny book. You and your little one can lift the flaps to see which pet will be Paul and Judy’s favorite. Lift the flap books are great because they are inherently interactive.

#6: Five Little Ducks illustrated by Ivan Bates is a book you can sing along to about five little ducks and their mommy duck.
